LAN (Single Network)

Server Less Mode

Summary:
1. All users (User A, User B, User C) are connected in single network with no server.
2. No configuration is needed.
3. There is no need to add IP Address / Broadcast IP / Range in settings.

Outlook Messenger:
1. Install Outlook Messenger Installer on each computer in your network.
2. If you have any firewall installed, add OutlookMessenger.exe in the exception list. Click here for more details.
3. On the first run of Outlook Messenger, you will see the below window:

  • Display Name : Enter your name to be displayed in Outlook Messenger.
  • Group Name : You can select an existing group name OR enter a new group name.
  • Network Card Selection : If you have Static a Network IP Address, select the network card related to your LAN.
    For Dynamic IP Address(i.e Obtain an IP Address automatically), Select the Host Name option.
4. Then, Click OK.
5. The User List window will open.
Other users who are using Outlook Messenger in your network will be displayed automatically in the User List. Note: Users cannot be added manually.
6. All communications will be made directly between users without any server.

 

Server based Mode

Summary:
1. The Link Server Tool is running in 192.168.2.1
2. All users need to add the Link Server IP Address in Outlook Messenger Settings.
3. The Link Server Tool helps to link users.

I. Install Link Server / Link Server Pro:
1. Install the Link Server Tool, on any one computer. Click here for more details.
2. Link Server will run as a Windows Service named "OM Link Server".
3. If you have any firewall installed, add LinkServerService.exe in the exception list. Click here for more details.
4. Run Link Server Manger.
5. Click Link Server Configuration, Select either Lite Server or Central Server Mode.

  • Lite Server Mode just helps to link users. Data transfer will be made directly between users.(not recommended for VPN)
  • Central Server Mode helps to link users & also ALL communications will be made via Link Server.(Recommended)
6. Then, Select the listen at IP Address for the Server, which can be reached by all clients.
7. Click "Save & Restart Server"

 

II. Install Outlook Messenger:

1. Install Outlook Messenger Installer on each computer in your network.

LAN with Multiple Sub networks

Summary:
1. The Link Server Tool is running in 192.168.2.1.

By Internet with a Single Centralized Server

Summary:
1. The Link Server Pro Tool is running in 192.168.2.1.
2. Create & Manage Users using Link Server Pro manager.
3. Client users need to add the Link Server IP Address in Outlook Messenger Settings & Login to connect with Link Server.
4. The Link Server Tool helps to link Authorized users of LAN & Internet.

I. Install Link Server Pro:
1. Install the Link Server Tool, on any one computer. more details.
2. Link Server will run as a Windows Service named "OM Link Server".
3. Configure your Router, to allow remote office users to connect Link Server Pro through internet.more details.
4. If you have any firewall installed, add LinkServerService.exe in the exception list. more details.
5. Run Link Server Pro Manger.(Right click LinkServerProManager.exe > Run as Administrator, to avoid any permission issues)
6. Need to add Users & Groups. Active Directory users can also be imported.
7. Start OM Link Server Pro Service.

II. Install Outlook Messenger:
Outlook Messenger:
1. Install Outlook Messenger Installer on each computer in your network.
2. If you have any firewall installed, add OutlookMessenger.exe in the exception list. Click here for more details.
3. In Outlook Messenger User List window, right click and then click Settings
4. In the Settings window, click the Network Tab and provide the Link Server IP Address. To connect through internet, provide Public IP Address of Link Server.
5. Click OK to close the Settings window.
6. In the User List window, you can view the Login Screen.
7. Login using the User Account registered with Link Server Pro Manager.
8. Authorized Users connected with Link Server Pro will be displayed in User List.

By Internet with scattered servers based on location

Summary: 1. Get an Outlook Messenger Chat Server Account.
2. For each LAN, install Link Server in any one computer, which should be connected with Chat Server.
3. All LAN Outlook Messenger clients will be connected with their related Link Server.
4. Remote Outlook Messenger clients will be connected directly with Chat Server.
5. All Link Server Users & Remote Users will be displayed in the Outlook Messenger Users List.

I. Chat Server Account:
1. Subscribe for an Outlook Messenger Chat Server Hosted Account. Click here for details.
2. You will receive the Account Login & Chat Server details.

II. Install Link Server:
1. Install the Link Server Tool, on any one computer. Click here for more details.
2. Link Server will run as a Windows Service named "OM Link Server".
3. If you have any firewall installed, add LinkServerService.exe in the exception list. Click here for more details.
4. Run Link Server Manger.
5. Click Link Server Configuration, Select either Lite Server or Central Server Mode.

10. In Server, enter the Chat Server details.
11. Enter the Access Key defined in Chat Server Manager.
12. Click "Save & Restart Server"
13. Repeat the above process, for each network.

 

III. Install Outlook Messenger:

1. Install Outlook Messenger Installer on each computer in your network.
2. If you have any firewall installed, add OutlookMessenger.exe in the exception list. Click here for more details.

10. Users connected in Link Server will be displayed in User List.
For Remote Clients:
6. Right click the User List, and then click Settings.
7. In the Settings window, click the Network Tab and then click "Server Details". 8. In the Chat Server Login Screen, select the Connect to Outlook Messenger Chat Server checkbox.
In Server, enter the IP Address or Host name of the computer running Chat Server.
10. In Email & Password, provide your related user account details defined in Chat Server.
11. Click "Sign In" to connect Chat Server.
12. In the User List window, you can view the Link Server status icon in running status.
Make sure Link Server is running in the mentioned IP Address and also check your firewall.
13. In the User List, you can view the users who are directly connected with Chat Server and also the Link Server users who are connected to Chat Server via Link Server.
14. Note: If the Link Server IP Address/Host name is provided in Settings, Outlook Messenger will try to connect to the Link Server first. If this fails, it will connect to the Chat Server. This is for users who usually work in the Office LAN Network & want to connect via Internet while travelling or working from home.
