What does CounterSpy do when it locates spyware on my computer?

When spyware is located, a results page is displayed allowing you to see details of every spyware threat found: descriptions of the threat, files and settings located on your computer, advise on the threat, risk ratings per threat, and a recommended action to take. Do you support Firefox or other Mozilla browsers?

CounterSpy's Active Protection currently only monitors browser specific changes in Internet Explorer (i.e. Homepage hijack). However, the browser you are using is not very relevant concerning a lot of spyware. If a piece of spyware has penetrated your PC it does not matter what browser is used when this occurs. Either our new Kernel-based Active Protection will stop it or our Scanner will clean it. CounterSpy also monitors changes to the system that are not browser dependent (i.e. Registry changes). The Scanner detects and removes any spyware/adware that may get installed and associated cookies. Our plan is to add direct product support for Firefox and possibly other Mozilla browsers in a future release.

Is CounterSpy going to protect me against worms like Conficker?

Yes, it sure is.

Dec. 5, 2009 - For the past few weeks, my Bitdefender is telling me that the file, svchost.exe is a malicious file. However, I been using all sort of anti-malware software and none of them find any infected file. That is until I use CounterSpy. It said my computer is infected with a high risk trojan file. It is definitely worth buying.

Nov. 12, 2009 - Yeh! I'm one of those who has had a computer since the days of the 8088s, and so I have had a number of computers, know what I'm saying? And, being out of the woods and unafraid of seeing my computer going down into another problem with viruses of the several kinds had been with me, until I purchased a copy of CounterSpy! Since that time, I wouldn't be without it! I accidentally went unto the Internet without a quick look down at my sys tray having watched a movie one night a year or so ago, without an antivirus running. After a few hours online, I did notice what I had done, x'ed out and rebooted, and true story: CounterSpy had been running all that time, and I hadn't picked up a virus of any kind. Now I don't want you to try that to see if this will work for you too, but I want you to know I do not work for the company, and that story is true as it could be. CounterSpy has been good to me, and now for the fourth year, I have 364 days left until another update!

Sep. 26, 2009 - My step-son called one evening and said he was having a problem with popups on their laptop. I knew they had free anti-virus package on the computer (ClamWin and Spybot S&D)so I advised him to download VIPRE and try it. He went to the Sunbelt website and downloaded CounterSpy by mistake. Then he uninstalled the 2 other programs that were being used and installed CounterSpy. CounterSpy found the offending programs and removed them. He called me back to let me know how well the computer was running and I said "VIPRE sure is a good thing to have on your computer". He said that he didn't have VIPRE so I asked him what he had downloaded. He didn't even realize what he had done, but CounterSpy fixed his problem. Since then he has downloaded VIPRE and was amazed that he didn't have to remove CounterSpy first. V W
