On new years eve New Yorkers (and anyone else in the Western hemisphere  were treated to  a blue moon.

Blue moons aren’t all that unusual, occurring every 2 1/2 years or so. But a New Year’s Eve blue moon is somewhat more remarkable — we haven’t had one since 1990!

Well  this promises that  2010 is going to be a remarkable year.

After the long holiday its hard to get into the swing of things back at work.  So I will  keep it light. The talk of the month is new years resolution so here we go I can’t resist……

New Years Resolution # 1 – Boost My PC Boot Time

Defrag your PC  – You have two options.

• Use the  free inbuilt windows defrag tool. To access this tool click on ‘Control Panel’, select ‘Administrative Tools’, select ‘Computer Management‘, Select ‘Disk Defragmenter’ finally select the disc you wish to defrag.  NB. Allow plenty of time for completion.

• Defrag Professionally  – I used the inbuilt defrag tool for many years until the release of PerfectDisk. This is the only disk defragmenter certified by Microsoft for Windows 7. I would go for this option anytime.

New Years Resolution # -2 – Boost my Internet Speed and Cleanup System Clutter

How to ?

You can try out the free tool CCleaner which I often use and always see a remarkable difference. However if you want to  say goodbye to PC headaches forever I would recommend System Mechanic.

I hope you are enjoying fall/spring where ever on the globe you are. In this September issue of SoftwareCasa News I will cover some new software titles that everyone should have on their computers…

I use all these titles daily.

Snagit 9.0 is a must. Why? Because an image can say more than a 1,000 words. I use this all the time when working in projects or online. If you have any need to explain technical details however easy or small like how to work with a special software, how to correct things on your computer or vice versa, to show errors you get on your computer and inquire about them. SmartDraw 2009 is nice. Version 2009 was actually released today September 9th and we are updating the product page. It should be ready shortly. I haven’t had a chance to see the new release, but SmartDraw is a great graphic tool, which I use to create presentations, plan the future and on weekends to create fantasy add-ons to our home Go checkout SmartDraw 2009.

BitDefender 2009 for your protection. BitDefender was also just released a couple of weeks ago and is well worth the investment. With the new gamer mode you will also have a lighter protection in case you do heavier graphic work. Go check out BitDefender 2009.

Partition Manager for Hard Disk management. With larger Hard disks you should always work with partitions and then it is easy to choose. Partition Manager 9 provides what you need (and more). Check out Partition Manager 9.0.

PDF Converter Pro to, yes, create PDFs. When sending word documents to partners it is easy to be picked up by email spam filters, that’s why we often convert our documents to PDF. Check out PDF Converter Pro.

This is just a handful of the software I use on a daily basis. I promise I will come back and tell you more about other titles that you should know about. It will be a busy fall for us.
